how to play

Pick a song. All the lyrics are on screen from the start - your job is to type each word as it's sung. Think monkeytype, but the song is your pace caret.

• Timing is scored per word. Finish a word right as (or just after) it's sung for a perfect. Too far ahead is early, too far behind is late.
• Lines don't wait for you. If the song moves on while you're still on an old line, the rest of it is a miss and your caret jumps forward.
• Lines unlock just before they're sung, so you can't type the whole song in advance.
• Space finishes a word. The last word of a line finishes itself once it's typed correctly.
• Keep hitting perfect / great / good to build a combo - it multiplies your score up to 3×.
• If a song's lyrics feel early or late, nudge the sync with the arrow keys while playing. It's remembered for that song.

scoring

• wpm counts correctly typed words, only over the time you were actually typing - instrumental breaks don't drag it down.
• sync is how well-timed your words were: 100% means every word was a perfect.
• song pace is the wpm you'd need to keep up with the singer.

Demo tracks are generated in your browser. For any other song, the lyric timing comes from lrclib.net, a free community database of synced lyrics, and the music comes from a YouTube link or an audio file on your computer (it never leaves your machine).
