A normal typing test gives you a block of random words. On typetown, the words are the lyrics of a song - and the song keeps time. You get the usual WPM and accuracy, plus something no other typing test measures: how well you type in rhythm.

How is WPM calculated?
Words per minute is the number of correctly typed characters divided by five, per minute of time you actually spent typing. Instrumental breaks don’t count against you, so your WPM reflects your real typing speed.
What does the sync score mean?
Every word is judged on timing - perfect, great, good, early or late - by how close you finished it to the moment it was sung. Sync is your overall timing score: 100% means every word was perfectly on the beat.
What is a good typing speed?
Most people type around 40 WPM. 60-80 WPM is fast, and 100+ WPM is excellent. After each song typetown shows what percentage of players you beat, so you always know where you stand.
