terms of service

These terms are an agreement between you and Rounak (roncodes.in), who runs typetown. By using typetown you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

the service

typetown is a free typing game: you type song lyrics in time with the music. You can play without an account; an account saves your scores and puts you on leaderboards. We may change, add or remove features, songs or the whole service at any time.

who can use it

You must be at least 13 to create an account. If you're under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission, and they agree to these terms for you.

your account

  • You sign in with a one-time code sent to your email. Keep access to that email secure - anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
  • One account per person. Don't share accounts, sell them, or sign in as someone else.
  • You can delete your account at any time from your profile.

usernames and fair play

  • Usernames are public. Don't pick one that is offensive, hateful, sexual, impersonates someone, or pretends to be typetown staff.
  • Scores must come from you actually playing. No bots, scripts, macros, modified clients, replaying or faking requests, or exploiting bugs.
  • Don't attack, overload, scrape or try to break into the service, or get around its limits and checks.
  • You can report a player from a leaderboard. We may hide, reset or remove usernames, scores or accounts that break these rules, without notice.

music, lyrics and other content

  • Songs play through YouTube's embedded player. By playing them you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service; see our privacy policy for how Google handles data.
  • Charts, artwork and previews come from Apple; synced lyrics come from lrclib.net. Songs, lyrics and artwork belong to their artists, writers and labels - we don't own them, and you may only use them to play the game.
  • If you upload your own audio file or paste your own lyrics, they stay on your device, and you must have the right to use them.
  • The typetown name, design and code are ours. Don't copy or reuse them without permission.
  • If you think something on typetown infringes your rights, email [email protected] with the details and we'll look into it and remove it where appropriate.

ads

typetown may show ads to keep it free. Ads are never placed on or over the YouTube player.

no warranty

typetown is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We don't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that a song, video, lyric or score will keep working or stay saved.

limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or loss of data, arising from your use of typetown. As the service is free, our total liability to you is limited to INR 1,000 (or the equivalent in your currency). Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.

ending your use

You can stop using typetown and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or harm other players or the service.

changes and governing law

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use typetown after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes go to the courts of India, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them there.
